We are so excited to welcome you to our first ever CocoWawa quilting pattern! The Dewdrop Quilt. This is a brand new line of patterns from CocoWawa and the Dewdrop quilt will be the first of more designs to come.

In this case, we offer three different quilting sizes: crib / wall, throw and twin. All of them display the same design of a large drop in the centre of each block. The repetition of the design changes depending on the size chosen and so does the different design suggestions for the quilting part. The construction is easier than it looks (we promise!). Each drop is composed of four squares pieced and sewn together. If you need more advice on curve piecing, go to our blog.

With detailed instructions, technical drawings and tips to get the best results, we hope that you will love making the Dewdrop quilt for yourself or for a loved one.

SUGGESTED FABRIC

For the drops, background and backing: quilting cotton (either solids or printed).
For the binding: quilting cotton.
For the batting: go for polyester or a polycotton blend. It is easier to use, lightweight and it does not shrink.e

*All requirements assume a width of 115cm /1.2 yards. The fabrics used on the samples are for reference only. If you use the same fabric for all the drops, you will need: crib – 75cm / 30’’ // throw – 1.50m / 1.65 yards // twin – 2.50m / 2.7 yards. Binding is cut on the crosswise grain. FQ= FAT QUARTER

FABRIC REQUIRED

For the fabric required, you will find a chart on carousel with the pictures. Also on the instructions.

TOOLS AND SUPPLIES

• Sewing machine.
• Regular thread for piecing the quilt together. Also for binding by hand at the end.
• 1/4’’ quilting foot is recommended for accuracy when sewing curves. Also a walking foot.
• EZ Quilter’s template plastic for cutting pattern pieces instead of using paper.
• 28mm rotary cutter and cutting mat (not mandatory, but it helps!).
• 6-strand embroidery floss or pearl cotton optional for binding or for hand quilting.
• Others: masking / painters’ tape, fabric pen, scissors, pins and quilting safety pins (curved), clips, needle, ruler…

DIFFICULTY

The Dewdrop quilt pattern is aimed at intermediate and advanced quilters, mainly due to the use of curved piecing.

SIZES

CRIB / WALL HANGER

The first size available on the quilt pattern is the Crib / Wall hanging option with a finished measurement of 33×50” or 85x126cm. It is perfect to use, as its names describe, for a crib or as a decorative wall hanger. It can also be a lovely present for a loved one as well.

This option is the one that requires the less amount of fabric, perfect for you to use scraps from old projects.

*In case you are interested, the fabrics used are from Ruby Star Society. These can be found in lots of shops around the world.

THROW

The second size option for the quilt pattern is Throw and it is perfect if you just want to cover part of a bed or for example, or to decorate a sofa. The finish measurements of the Dewdrop Quilt throw are 50×60” or 126x167cm.

In this case, the drop design is repeated 3 times along 4 rows.

TWIN

The final option for the quilt pattern is the biggest we offer and would fit a twin bed. The final measurement of this size is 66/82” or 168x209cm. This version requires the most amount of fabric as you will need to create 5 rows of 4 blocks each.

We hope that you are as excited as we are and that you will follow us along this new journey for CocoWawa. You can find inspiration for your Dewdrop Quilt here and more information as well here.

*The Dewdrop quilt pattern is sold in a PDF format, so you will receive an email with a link to download the pattern and instructions. Then, you will find two printing options available: A4 and US letter. The pattern pieces are only 4 pages long.
