In this type of resist dyeing, the combination of accordion-pleated fabric, wood blocks, and clamps create patterns reminiscent of refracting light. While the author, Kristine Vejar, loved the pattern that emerged, for this project she wanted to push the possibilities even more, so she cut apart the fabric to make a quilt. This adds more dimension to the geometric play between the dyed (positive) and undyed (negative) spaces.
