From happysewluckyshop:

"Peace is not the absence of war but the absence of fear, and the presence of justice.” (UrsulaFranklin, 1921-2016, Canadian physicist & peace activist.) One of my favourite quotes because peace is not only about countries not going to war, but also about every human being on Earth feeling safe to live their life, in their own environment, as who they believe their true selves are, without persecution, judgement or danger in any way. Each and every one of us can help make that possible even in some small way every day, just by being kind and tolerant. And of course also by letting our elected leaders know that we don't support war or nuclear weapons. There's are a million alternative ways to resolve conflicts. We have much to learn from our history, and yet somehow we are still such fools.

PEACE logo history: The peace sign was designed in 1958 by Gerald Holtom by superimposing the semaphore flag signal letters N and D to symbolize #NuclearDisarmament. N has flags pointed outwards at 45° on both left and right sides, and D has one flag up and one down making a straight vertical line.
