Hamilton Spencer Drawing

From Costume Coalition on Etsy:

Original Broadway pattern, exclusively designed by Paul Tazewell

This is the pattern for a Regency spencer designed by Paul Tazewell, the Tony Award winning Costume Designer of the original Broadway production of HAMILTON. The pattern was created by Tricorne, Inc., the costume shop that makes the spencers for the Broadway production and National Tours. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this pattern benefit the Costume Industry Coalition (sponsored by the Artisans Guild of America, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit) and will directly support the hundreds of costume artisans and businesses facing hardships in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting prolonged closure of Broadway theaters.

This purchase includes 3 PDF’s for immediate digital download:
1) Complete instructions for assembly
2) Patterns for sizes 0-18, tiled for printing on a home printer (36 American 8.5x11" letter-size pages, assembly required) The A4 paper format is now available in a separate listing.
3) Patterns for sizes 0-18, measuring 36” x 60”, which you could give to a copy shop for large-format printing

This spencer is inspired by historical research and includes stunning details such as the petal-shaped sleeve cap and a fabulous rouleaux-trimmed breast in a pattern of leaves and berries. The sleeve also features a lattice motif at the cuff. This would be an elegant addition to your Regency gown or perfect for an authentic Hamilton costume of your own. Or you could even pair it with jeans and a tank top for an elevated modern style—as the cast is always exclaiming they want to do!

Paul Tazewell suggests using a silk taffeta or lightweight woven fabric. In true Hamilton tradition you would make all of the trim elements from the same fabric to create the signature tone on tone look.
