This mermaid design was inspired by the Maid of Meigle, a 1000 year old (or more!) Pictish rock carving found near Perthshire, Scotland. The stone is now housed in the Meigle Sculptured Stone Museum in Dundee. My mermaid was named in honor of my friend and model stitcher who had faith in Ink Circles from the first day.

163 x 163 stitch count.

The design is mainly cross stitch, with some backstitch/blackwork areas. The model was stitched on 32 count Ice Blue Belfast linen using Carrie’s hand-dyed Threads.
