From Craft Passion:
Disclaimer: this face mask is not meant to replace the surgical face mask, it is a contingency plan for those who have no avail to surgical mask in the market. Proper use of a surgical mask is still the best way to prevent virus infection.
In this face mask sewing video, I have included the detail on how to cut and sew the face mask with a pocket for the filter media.
Besides, there is additional 2 new info I have added to the video:
- a sleeve on the top edge of the face mask for a removal nose wire,
- and, using a cotton shoelace as the head tie, as shown in the picture below.
There are downloadable pattern pieces sized for men, women/teenager and children, either with seam allwances included or as a nested pattern without SA.
And there are extra files for Cricut and Silhouette systems, too.Note of actuality: The CDC does not consider homemade masks to be effective personal protective equipment inside clinical environments or for those caring directly for people with COVID-19. However, if you’d like to make your own mask for personal use when leaving your home for groceries or other essential items, this could be an option.
