From Scout Patterns:

Byrdie is a button-up, collared blouse with thoughtful details to take this wardrobe staple to the next level. It has a loose fit with subtle shaping and optional bust darts to give it a flattering silhouette.  Pair Byrdie with your favorite jeans for a casual look, or tuck it into your favorite slacks for a more polished style. Both versions can also be sewn as a shirtdress with a tie-waist.

VERSION A is a classic button-up shirt with a straight point collar and optional breast pockets.

VERSION B features tuxedo shirt-style tucks across the bust, bishop-style sleeves, and a simple band collar.

TECHNIQUES COVERED IN THIS PATTERN:

  • Basic shirtmaking techniques, including installing a shirt collar, sleeve cuffs, sleeve tower placket, and button placket

  • Sewing tucks

SKILL LEVEL:  Intermediate to Advanced

RECOMMENDED FABRICS:

Light to medium weight woven fabrics. For a more structured, boxy fit, use fabrics such as linen, chambray, poplin, and voile. For a more fluid drape and flowing fit, use fabrics such as Tencel, rayon challis, and crepe de chine.
