From Making Magazine No. 6 / Black & White:

In traditional quilting, the Flying Geese pattern embodies simplicity, balance, and beauty. Large-scale quilts using this pattern are incredibly stunning but you can get equally stunning results using the pattern in small doses. With this simple cafe apron, the Flying Geese pocket give you the opportunity to practice this particular piecing method while at the same time creating a useful and modern garment. And although you could use any colours in the apron, there is something quite elegant about the palette of Canadian Geese. Their combination of black, warm gray, and white is timeless -- just like the Flying Geese pattern itself. As a Canadian, I may be a little biased, but it feels like a fitting tribute!
