From honigdesign:

The peplum may have roots reaching as far back as ancient Greece, but there is nothing old-fashioned about this fun and flirty 21st century version!

Here, angled symmetrical pleats add a twist to peplum versions of past eras and, named after the goddess of handicrafts, Athena shows that it’s always been fashionable to be both stylish - and crafty - too.

Athena is a close fitting woven modern peplum, with bracelet or short sleeves that make it suitable for any weather, and can be made with drapey fabric for everyday wear, or something weightier and more dramatic for special occasions.

"... it was just fiddly enough to make it interesting but with huge payoff - that front waist interest! love the clean waistline, both for construction's sake and for a much more flattering profile." Rhonna Jerauld, Punk Rock Martha

Sewers with a little experience with find Athena can offer a lot of versatility with just a few simple tweaks - add a front zip to turn it into a jacket, or lengthen the peplum to skirt length to create a full dress!
