From Craftsy:

Make "Up and Away" mini for your next quilt swap or as a gift. This 18" x 18" quilt is great as a wallhanging -- add a border to make an oversized pillow or make multiple blocks and construct a larger quilt!

This is the perfect pattern to use up your fabric scraps! If you need additional fabric to complement your stash, charm packs and fat eighths are the perfect size for this pattern.

This pattern requires foundation paper piecing techniques. General foundation paper piecing knowledge is assumed.

Up and Away mini is a modern quilt that I designed in early 2016. In June 2016, Up and Away won honorable mention as well as Mark Lipinski's Judge's Choice award in the Quilt Alliance "Playing Favorites" Contest. For this project, I used one of my favorite piecing techniques, foundation paper piecing. I love paper piecing because I can design and execute precise design elements. Foundation paper piecing takes practice, but the technique is rewarding and the results are worth the work.
