From the Decades of Style website:

Although the photo shows a bias yoke, the pattern is made for the straight of grain (we just couldn't resist using the bias when making this sample!) This vintage pattern is from the early 1940s. This light-weight coat has so many pretty details it is hard to know where to start when describing it.

It was meant to be a lightweight coat worn over a dress so it has less ease than you might expect from a modern coat. It is more of a layering piece than a coat for real warmth.

Single breasted coat has a deep shaped front yoke finished with a lapped seam. A lapped seam is also used to finish the top of the center back panel. Lining and side seam pockets optional. Medium weight fabrics suggested: wool, velveteen, gabardine, wool flannel, bottom-weight rayons, linen.
