Double gauze fabric can be used for various clothes as it's light, soft, and easy to work with. It's an ideal fabric for this sweet dress with frills and gathers. The outer edges of the frills are finished with a serger rolled hem, and hte frills are then gathered and inserted into the vertical seams on the bodice. The sleeve bottoms are gathered with rows of shirring, which are stitched using elastic thread on the sewing machine bobbin.

The neckline of the dress is finished with a narrow bias-cut facing. The placket in the center-back closes with three buttons and loops. The loops are made with soft, round elastic - the type used on face masks - to make buttoning and unbuttoning easy. This design can be sewn from almost any lightweight cotton or viscose fabric with a good drape. Linen batiste could be used to make an elegant dress with a nostalgic touch.
