New record! I finished this month's patreon pattern within 2 days, less than 48 hours from release! So proud of myself! The fabric was a bunch of precut 1 yard pieces that I bought in clearance for 50 cents last summer so it just made sense to use a double box pleat skirt and marry up the yardage. I had the skirt done Tuesday night but still had a yard leftover and thought, this could be a dress. So I decided to wait for and see what Gertie would have in store for me this month and I was not disappointed! How fun that I made a Maleficent dress for an Aurora pattern!
A couple of quick notes, I suggest a sturdy fabric for the overlay. I saw folks excited to make the overlay without the bodice - it's totally possible but treat the overlay like the bodice and line it and I'd suggest interfacing it and maybe add a few more boning channels for actual structure. And adding a thin strip at the point to join at the back unless you're comfortable with strapless with a deep v. You can absolutely add a basque waist to this.
The skirt pictured is the going places double box pleat skirt from Tuppence Ha'penny's Patreon and it lined up perfectly with the waist harts and side seams like black magic!
