The Invisible Woman (1940 film) is ready for the Darlin Birthday After Hours Gala! Inspiration was taken from this slapstick monster era film about a woman who volunteers to be a science experiment in order to prank her awful employer but madness and hijinks ensue. You can watch the film on archives.org. film is in black and white and she is mostly a hazy white and black entity for when she's invisible.

There are two dresses in this photo. There is a Hyacinth dress with the cape sleeves and a Vespertine with 22 godets busing the Hyacinth bodice. Both patterns are from @gunnardeatherage and I love how beautiful the designs come together.

Okay now for the details. I made the white Hyacinth dress from some leftover embellished tulle and flat lined it against some white linen and the lining is silk. I used white chiffon for the sleeves. Not visible (or invisible in this photo) is the bottom of the sheath - I skipped the godets on this one. The overdress is made with 10 yards of black organza and 5 yards of white chiffon. I did the 22 godet option and didn't cut an even ratio of black and white so I could put emphasis on some areas and leave the sides dark so the white sleeves could really bounce against them. I chopped off 11 inches of length because I'm a 5'3" queen and I didn't want it touching the ground for safety at events with stairs.

I sewed a straight 14 but in the future I would grade from a 10 or 12 in the bust to a 14 at the waist. I have a little more room in the bust than anticipated but that works out well in this particular case so I don't need to worry about the integrity of the garment on theme parks. For reference I usually see an 8 in Gertie and grade to a 10 at the waist for those that see from both patterns.
