This was the first garment I ever made! From the book Simple Modern Sewing. Unfortunately, it doesn't have terribly detailed instructions, and assumes a certain level of skill, which I did not have at the time. ;) The facings and seam finishing were unsightly and ragged (it was just before I got a serger, and I didn't know better how to finish seams of more loose fabrics then). The fabric choice couldn't have been worse, the robin's egg blue shot cotton looked like hospital scrubs, especially since the dress was too big on me. I eventually chopped it up for scraps, but it'll always hold a special place in my heart!

Modifications

Added pockets and contrast facing in the neck opening.
