This Sea Island cotton variety used for the warp in this fabric was classically bred by the late Dr Carl Roberts in the 1980’s and ‘90’s from Sea Island variety Montserrat, specifically for the Mesilla Valley in NM where it has been kept in organic production since. All of the cotton used to produce this plain weave 46.5” wide 4 oz lawn fabric was grown organically in New Mexico, and then shipped to Japan by me. Spun, woven and finished by Taishoboseki in Japan. The weft of the white option is also this Sea Island desert variety. The brown option has a weft composed of Foxfibre®️ Colorganic®️“Coyote” brown blended with Pima. The green weft options are composed my variety “Sea Green” blended with the Sea Island and are offered in both raw ( which is reactive to acids, bases and light - check out “This color is alive” in the newsletter section) and iron mordanted (the green color is fixed and has a grey cast). I am hoping that you enjoy these very fine fabrics.
