Introduction:
Made in Europe by a company of world renown, with centuries of expertise and tradition. This linen & cotton blend gives you all the benefits of natural fibres. Linen has been used for centuries because of its beneficial properties; cool and breathable, gets softer with washing & wear and linen is impervious to moths and resists dirt and stains. The added cotton reducing the crispness (if 100% linen), thus giving extra softness to the overall feel.
Colour:
Inspired by the stunning countryside found in Yorkshire, this warm-hued versatile linen is woven from soft sage green and is teamed with a golden-hued beige elevating this earthy-toned classic with an intricate ladder open weave along the length of the fabric.
Properties:
Lightly textured, grained-like.
Very soft and malleable with a washed & worn feel, almost antiquated.
Alternating fancy weave bands (ladder-like) that resemble historic Viking tablet weaving, creating an open quality to the fabric, making these areas more bias-mobile.
Overall fairly stable thanks to the close weave (3cm) between the fancy weave bands.
This will drape well when used at length.
Garment Suggestions:
Use this cleverly woven artisan-like textured linen for Lagenlook styles, such as the patterns from Boho Banjo and fashion looks of Gudrun Sjoden.
Use alongside some contrasting/coordinating coloured linen as a backing to create interesting effects and to stabilise the open weave areas.
Choose loose vests and a line and sharkbite overtunics, sleeveless overdress and skirts & pinafores. Incorporate into textile art-like pieces and mix with embroidery, weaving and appliqué.
Other Uses:
This excellent linen blend is superb for historical garment makers due to its natural colour tones. This natural fibre fabric is also perfect for a host of soft furnishing projects too, curtains, blinds, cushions etc... Add some contrasting / coordinating coloured linen as a backing to create interesting effects and to stabilise the open weave areas.
