Denim is a sturdy cotton warp-faced textile in which the weft passes under two or more warp threads to produce an effect of parallel diagonal lines or ribs also referred to as twill lines. The most common denim is indigo denim, in which the warp thread is dyed, and the weft thread is left white. This denim is a shirt weight which is rare as the majority are heavier and used for trousers.
