My ultimate favourite fabric to sew with, this twill has drape for days. A true medium-weight  that would hold up well anywhere from a swingy tank to luxurious culottes to a light trenchcoat, the Safia is matte, (giving it an almost sandwashed look), buttery soft to the touch, durable and naturally moisture-wicking & breathable. I'm already a member of the head-to-toe Tencel club – join me? ;)

This twill was named after Safia Minney, the fair trade fashion pioneer (& featured in the True Cost documentary – a must watch). People Tree, her ethical fashion line, was one of the first to bring sustainable, fair-trade fashion into the gloabl spotlight –– and developed the first integrated supply chain for organic cotton!

🌱Sustainability: Lyocell (commonly known by the brand name Tencel™)  fibres are made from sustainably-sourced beechwood (harvested from certified and controlled forests in Austria), and produced in a closed-loop process where over 99% of water and solvent are reused.

  • Colour: Black
  • Fabric Content: 100% lyocell (commonly known as Tencel™)
  • Opacity: Very opaque – some shadow will show through when held up to direct light, but should be opaque enough for an unlined skirt or trousers.
  • Weight: Medium weight
  • Width: 58"
  • Source: Reorderable
  • Care: Tencel shrinks about 3% after first washing and then resists shrinkage in subsequent washings. Wash on the gentle cycle (cool or warm) and hang to dry. Iron on low/med.
